Bergen Art Book Fair & Isotop Fellesatelier present: Dubbing Stills / Desktop Jive
Join us at Bergen Assembly for an evening of text related performances from Chicago's Sonnenzimmer, and local art/percussion duo Luke Drozd and Owen Weaver.
Sonnenzimmer - Dubbing Stills
Sonnenzimmer will debut Dubbing Stills, the publication, at the 2025 Bergen Art Book Fair. Dubbing Stills documents and unravels an experimental image performance originally held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 2016. The performance merged movement, image, music, and feedback to create an ephemeral experience that explores the uncanny nature of graphic communication. The publication will feature original audio from the performance, photographic documentation, and an extrapolating essay.
In celebration of the release, Sonnenzimmer will recreate the performance on Saturday, April 5 at Bergen Assembly, Bergen, Norway. In this iteration, Sonnenzimmer will lead an audience through guided visualizations supported by musical interludes to create a collective inner imaging event. The aim is to challenge participants’ relationships to images by rekindling curiosity and questioning their inner curation of images.
This transcontinental project builds on Sonnenzimmer’s ongoing graphic inquiry, which they have explored through the many lenses of their interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary practice, such as publications, exhibitions, performances, prints, and more.
Luke Drozd / Owen Weaver - Desktop Jive
Luke Drozd collects things. Some of these things relate to words and language. Odd signs, spelling mistakes, spam email, product reviews. Things that amuse, move and get the mind rolling.
In an attempt to make sense of how these are connected they form the material for a new work-in-progress text, image and music work called Desktop Jive made in collaboration with local percussion legend Owen Weaver, and presented for the first time this evening.
