Chattypub Walk-in workshop at the H&D stand – during the fair’s opening hours ChattyPub is a design tool that leverages a chat interface (Zulip) to apply CSS styles and formats to the content of a publication.

It’s a tool that is in-progress and is further developed and activated through workshops. The workshops explore in a practical manner how a process of co-designing a publication unfolds, specifically when several people are designing at the same time using a chat interface. Through workshops H&D tries to open up the process of making this tool, exploring its possibilities and limitations and build community around it coming-into-being. Momentary Zine Walk-in workshop at the H&D stand – during the fair’s opening hours Momentary Zine is an installation and experimental publishing tool developed by Hackers & Designers. It uses the immediacy of voice as main content generator and vehicle for participation in capturing and distributing the temporality and actuality of live events. The zine content is accumulated by speaking into a microphone. Speech-to-text technology then translates spoken words into text. Simultaneously an algorithm runs an automated image search on Google or Imgur, querying the spoken words and adding the image results accordingly to the zine layout. Results are printed immediately using a thermal printer and are compiled into a small zine with simple binding tools. The possibility of starting a dialogue with the technology serves and enables conversations about unusual publishing methods and the possibilities of technology in that context.
