Following our interest in books as performative tools, Good Neighbour invites the collective To See the Inability to See (Maartje Fliervoet, Arefeh Riahi, and Martín La Roche Contreras) to read and unfold their book My Garden's Boundaries Are the Horizon: A Porous Reader to Unguard the Garden.

In 2022 and 2023, this collective, with roots in the Netherlands, Iran, and Chile, developed a foldable, multidirectional book-object with sculptural and performative qualities, emphasizing the relationship between bodies and books while provoking collectivity in writing, reading, and thinking. For this publication the collective departed from (fictional) stories surrounding certain traditional Iranian buildings, such as the Persian garden called Fin Garden in Kashan, and in particular an octagonal vestibule called the hashti. The publication was developed in close collaboration with designer Elisabeth Klement, who joined the collective process by working in parallel on the book's design alongside the development of its content.

For this performative reading, To See the Inability to See will explore new threads and possibilities for a shared engagement with their publication. The book is conceived to stimulate collective reading and to invite the audience to become directly involved.
