Nicolas's visual practice explores narratives through the question of figuration and through the lens of drawing as a form of mark-making. Drawing less figuratively becomes a way to put more focus on the making and reading of lines. Exploring how a change in the direction or color of a mark captures a childhood memory, or overlapping lines, a detail from a family dish or recipe.

His publications explore the narrative potential of these marks and drawing processes. They examine memories through the lens of recipes and landscape and use entomology as a bridge into short stories.
