Joey Chin is an artist, writer, and book artist whose practice lies at the intersections of text, narrative, and visual art. Her work is staged through language, poetry, acts and modes of reading, as well as deliberate disruptions. She is particularly interested in how personal communications are formed between the self, the marking of territory, and the private conversations that emerge between them.

She holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from the City University of Hong Kong, and her work has been recognised with scholarships, grants, and awards from organisations including the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service, the Asia Europe Foundation, the Royal Over-Seas League Arts (United Kingdom), the Dorothy Cheung Foundation (Singapore), the National Arts Council (Singapore), the Run Run Shaw Library (Hong Kong), and the Society for Humanistic Anthropology (United States).

Her book art practice is deeply engaged with grammar, script, and the shifting meanings of words across cultures. She treats literature as an entry point into making work, often examining the word as image and its transformations in new contexts. Collaboration is central to her approach: she has worked collectively with artists, communities, and institutions such as libraries and universities. Her projects include working with refugees and migrants at Babel (Greece) and with the Chinese Community Centre (UK). These text-based and visual outcomes have been presented at the Library of Birmingham, Leeds Arts University Library, and the University of Glasgow.
